The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba, convened a strategic meeting with operational commanders of the Kano State Police Command. The meeting aimed to discuss and address security concerns in the state, especially as Hamattan Season sets in that is characterized by dry and cold weather, increase in human and vehicular movements in day time, increased risk of accidents and fire incidents. These challenges require proactive measures by all to mitigate the risks and ensure public safety during the Hamattan season.

– Robust Security Measures During Hamattan Season: The meeting emphasized the need for enhanced security measures, including robust visibility patrols during the Hamattan season, given the challenges posed by climate change.
– Professionalism: The Commissioner of Police reiterated the importance of professionalism among police officers, emphasizing the need for discipline, integrity, respect for human rights and the rule of law.
– Averting Farmers and Herders Clashes: The meeting discussed the need for stakeholders’ meetings to prevent clashes between farmers and herders. The Commissioner of Police directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to convene meetings with relevant stakeholders to address the emerging trends.
