
On May 7, 2025, Mallam Shehu Abdullahi, State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission and team, paid a courtesy visit to CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command.
2.0 During the visit, the Coordinator commended the Command’s efforts in crime fighting and emphasized the importance of promoting human rights, particularly in investigating cases involving vulnerable groups such as Juveniles, Women, Children and people with special needs; taking into consideration their health status and sexual orientation. Discussions also centered on potential partnership opportunities in training.
3.0 Key Highlights:
– Commendation: The Coordinator lauded the Command’s efforts in crime fighting, especially with high observance of human rights and adopting best practices while ensuring peace and stability in the State.
– Human Rights Promotion: Emphasis was placed on promoting human rights, particularly for vulnerable groups such as juveniles, women, children, and people with special needs, considering their health status and sexual orientation.











– Partnership Opportunities: Discussions explored potential partnership opportunities in training.
3.0 The Command CP later took the Coordinator and his team to the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) of the Command, where they engaged with the officers in fruitful deliberations; sharing insights on their activities. In the end, the visitors commended the efforts of the Inspector-General of Police, Federal Republic of Nigeria, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, on the accountability initiatives and ongoing Police reforms all over the country.
4.0 This visit underscores the Command’s commitment to upholding human rights while ensuring public safety and order.
